Recall: Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seat

Britax has issued a voluntary recall of the Chaperone Infant Car Seat. Although there are no reported injuries, the rivet used to attach the harness adjuster to the shell may have been improperly installed and could possibly detach from the shell. If the harness adjuster were to detach from the car seat shell, the harness straps would not secure your child properly, resulting in increased risk of injury if you were in a crash.

Affected models were manufactured between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011, and include the following model numbers:  E9L692J, E9L692K, E9L692L, E9L692M, E9L952J, E9L952K, and E9L952L.

Britax is providing a remedy kit which includes a harness adjuster and instructions for installing it. If you registered your Chaperone, affected seat owners will automatically receive a remedy kit and the instructions.

The Great bebePod Exchange: Exchange your Bumbo for a FREE bebePod

If you have a Bumbo Seat and are unhappy with it, you can exchange it for a bebePOD Flex for FREE! Here is what you need to do:

  • Pack up your Bumbo seat and include a note stating your choice of a Boy or Girl bebePod Flex. You will be responsible for shipping costs.
  • Ship your Bumbo to The Great bebePod Exchange, 2421 S. Westgate Rd, Santa Maria, CA 93455
  • Bumbo seats must be postmarked by 1/31/12 to qualify
Exchange is limited to the first 1,000. If they get close to that number, they will make a statement on their Facebook page. Your Bumbo must be the all foam seat and cannot be torn, chewed or visually distressed. Go here for more information on this exchange program.



Note: The Bumbo seat contains a warning that you should never place the Bumbo seats on tables, countertops, chairs or other elevated surface to avoid head injury. Many feel that the Bumbo seat is unsafe due to infants falling out of the seat. Personally, I used the Bumbo seat for both of my kids and and never had the issue – I loved it – however, I knew as a parent that I shouldn’t leave them unattended on an elevated surface!
